Previously I had been working with homeless people for 12 years, managing a Day Centre and a House of Multiple Occupation supporting people to move forward from sleeping rough into accommodation in the area.
Sadly, I became one of those who lost everything as I had to flee from my situation. It was impossible to keep my job and find accommodation. I came back to Crawley and stayed with my friend. I then approached the council who referred me to Camfield, where I was interviewed by Mick and Donna. I was offered a place to stay where I could heal and work to moving someday into a place I can call home again. I have been able to relax and find myself again after a long heart-breaking process. I have learnt quickly that life shows us many paths to which some don’t expect, one I never thought I would be on, losing everything.
I want to add a big thank you to the staff for supporting me to getting back to where I need to be, which is to find my home again and re-start my life. If it wasn’t for Camfield I don’t know what I would have done or where I would be, I am forever grateful.
